Environmental, Safety, Health and Energy(ESH&En) Policy
TSEC is a highly professional manufacturer of solar cells and modules; in addition to pursuing corporate growth, TSEC emphasizes pollution prevention, promotes renewable energy, and enhances environmental performance by using sustainable resources. We also strive to improve the safety of work environment, prevent the injury and ill health from occurring, and comply with or exceed relevant ESH&En laws and obligation. We pledge to integrate information and resources to implement the following ESH&En policy which range includes the employee, the contractor and the interested party in order to fulfill our social responsibilities and reach the goal of sustainable growth.

Safety Education & Training
A company’s employees are one of its most important assets. Employees who have acquired safety awareness at work will take this awareness home with them, thereby helping to ensure safety at home. The resulting support from the employee’s family will encourage employees to make a greater effort to spread proper safety concepts in the workplace, creating a synergistic effect whereby individual employees, contractors, visitors and suppliers all come to attach more importance to health and safety issues.
Safety education and training is the means whereby a company inculcates safety concepts and awareness in its employees. For this reason, we take safety education and training very seriously.

Emergency Response
There is an old saying that “if you want to be able to do a good job, you need to look after your tools properly.” To ensure safety within the factory area, prevent emergencies from occurring, and keep emergencies under control in the event that they do occur, suitable preparations need to be taken and the necessary facilities put in place to minimize damage and loss. At our factory, the following facilities and systems have been put in place to achieve the company’s disaster prevention and control objectives:
  • An Emergency Response Center (ERC) has been established to serve as the command center for handling emergencies.
  • The factory has a First Aid Room, where a full-time factory nurse provides employees with first-aid treatment and with advice on medical issues.
  • The factory area has over 300 CCTV cameras, facilitating monitoring and control by the ERC and from the Central Control Room.
  • Toxic gas monitoring and warning systems have been installed to meet plant safety objectives.
  • Diesel generators and an external uninterruptible power supply (EUPS) system have been installed to ensure that the power supply to key items of equipment within the factory is not interrupted.
  • An earthquake monitoring device has been installed to monitor the severity of any earthquakes that affect the plant; if a severe earthquake occurs, the supply of particular types of gas is automatically switched off.
  • The factory is equipped with a range of emergency response equipment to help bring incidents under control, including equipment for handling chemical leaks, Scott self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA), Class A protective clothing, fire-fighting suits, etc.
Green Factory
In designing our factory, the Company has sought to give due emphasis to the needs of both economic development and environmental protection. Environmentally-friendly “green” design has been adopted for both factory buildings and factory equipment, with the aim of reducing energy consumption and carbon dioxide emissions, and facilitating the achievement of sustainability goals. Based on its efforts in terms of green design (which are outlined below), the Company will be applying for Green Building certification:
  • Adoption of variable frequency designs for pumps, air handling units, production process ventilation systems, production process water cooing systems, etc.
  • Recycling of air conditioner system cooling water.
  • Adoption of a heat recovery system for water chiller units.
  • Installation of T5 light-tubes throughout the factory.
  • Installation of LED lighting in the packaging and repair area.
  • Adoption of zero-purge type compressed-air dryers.
  • Recycling of waste water with low fluoride concentrations for in-factory use.
  • Collection and recycling of rainwater.
In line with our commitment to benefiting humanity and helping protect the planet, the Company will continue to monitor the carbon footprint of its products and implement greenhouse gas emission audits, with the aim of reducing the amount of resources used, cutting greenhouse gas emissions, and achieving sustainable development.


Greenhouse Gas Inventory

In 2011, TSEC has set up a procedure of GHG emissions inventory. TSEC is required to complete scope 1 and scope 2 GHG emissions inventory of the previous year and to receive the official ISO 14064-1 certification issued by an external verification party.

Greenhouse Gas Inventory

TSEC believes that a company must know its actual GHG emissions as the first step toward energy conservation and carbon reduction. TSEC has established a capability for product-level carbon footprint inventory and carbon management since 2011, increasing the competitive advantage of the products we manufacture.


Power Consumption Records

TSEC continuously promotes energy saving and focuses on facilities systems and manufacturing equipments.

TSEC has reduced its unit power consumption 45% from 161.4 MWh/MW in 2012 to 88.7 MWh/MW in 2017.

Water Resource Management

The primary water source for TSEC is tap water supplied by Taiwan Water Corporation.

TSEC’s unit water consumption decreased 38% from 802.0 M3/MW in 2011 to 497 M3/MW in 2017.

Waste Reduction and Resource Recycling

In order to sustainably use TSEC's resources, the first priority of our waste management is reduction; the second is material recycling, and finally disposal through incineration and landfill.

TSEC carefully selects waste disposal and recycling contractors and performs audits of certification documents, and site operations to ensure legal and proper recycling and treatment of wastes.

TSEC has made great efforts in waste reduction and recycling with significant achievements over the past five years.

TSEC has also continued to carry out reduction and recycling programs and the waste recycling rate were exceeded 80%.
